Building a New Hospice for Bury
Bury Hospice has been situated on its existing site on Dumers Lane in Radcliffe since first opening its doors in 1991. Since then many developments and improvements have been made to the services offered as well as to the building itself and its facilities. However, further expansion at the Dumers Lane site is not possible and so the Charity's Trustees have identified and acquired a new plot of land on which to build a Bigger, Better Hospice for Bury. The new Hospice will be built on the site of the former St Bede's Roman Catholic Church and Club on Rochdale Old Road in Bury. Two very generous recent legacies have provided half of the £5 million needed to build, equip and open the new Hospice and on 9 September 2010 a Capital Appeal will be officially launched to raise the remaining £2.5 million.
